Spring Has Sprung

Spring always sneaks up on me, but not in a nice way. More like a "mean little brother who is hiding behind the door" way. One minute my boys are bored to death, and the next minute they are so busy that I'm not sure where either one of them is at any given moment. It's like we hit the month of April and warp speed at the same time.

The next two months are full of AP and SAT testing, overnight band trips (two of them!), an overnight field trip to the coast, and of course, track meets, including the district and state championships. Throw in a spring concert, a trip to Seattle for Easter and Tristan's 16th birthday and end the whole mess with my oldest son's graduation and what will you have?

You will have one stressed-out, slightly weepy 40-year-old.

Actually, you won't have her because SHE IS ALREADY HERE!

Hello. My name is April. I am still waiting for a writing client to pay me thousands of dollars (OK just $3,000 but STILL!), my oldest son is graduating and leaving me forever heading off to college, my youngest son refuses to use the toilet and girls won't stop calling my middle son. Welcome to my mid-life crisis.

He doesn't even brush his hair most days. I don't see the attraction.

Trenton has been praying that God will make it clear whether he should go to George Fox or Seattle Pacific University, so we eagerly ripped open the financial aid offers, thinking that one or the other would give him more money and that maybe that would be a sign.

The result? George Fox is offering $22,350 per year in free money (not loans). Seattle Pacific is offering $22,200 in free money per year. I kid you not.

The poor kid was stunned. Happy, of course -- those are very generous offers -- but he still has no idea which school to attend!

So I told him I would pick for him and he rolled his eyes at me. I wonder why? I was just trying to be helpful! Boys.

Uh, next spring will only be 2/3 as busy as this one? Does that help? Probably not! :P

Those are some nice scholarships! It would be hard to choose. Somehow he will figure it out.

As for the $3k, my gosh! That's just not cool to delay paying you. I hope you get your money soon.

Oh no you've made me all weepy again! ;) I'm actually doing better lately about him leaving. I keep thinking about how exciting it is for him to begin his new life! And prayer helps of course!

George Fox! It is closer to you and I can't squish enough superlatives to suggest how great it is.

I appreciate your honesty so much and am so glad for you and your eldest scholarship fellow.

Oh wowsers, that is one busy spring you've got on your hands. At least the days are brighter/longer??

Those are GREAT scholarship offers! What to do, what to do... *cough*SPU*cough ... kidding! K is definitely leaning toward SPU but then George Fox has been super slow to send us info. Also she's madly in love with the Seattle music scene. Which makes me mildly nervous. Okay, make that Extremely.

Your middle kid is a cutie! (as are the other 2...) You are blessed! And um, arm the boy with a stick to keep the girls away? LOL.
